1 Killed, 1 Injured after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Tesoro Viejo
MADERA COUNTY, CA (September 22, 2022) – Thursday morning, a head-on collision on Highway 41 claimed the life of 23-year-old Kaila Bess.
The crash happened around 8:16 a.m. in the area near Tesoro Viejo on September 15th, per initial reports.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Bess was driving a Toyota Corolla when it was struck by a Dodge pickup truck as it attempted to pass traffic in the northbound lane.
The initial collision sent the Corolla into the southbound lanes, where it collided with a black BMW.
Due to the severity of her injuries, responding officers pronounced Kaila Bess dead at the scene.
Paramedics then airlifted the BMW driver to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Officers currently withheld the name of the BMW driver until their family is notified.
Meanwhile, the pickup driver did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
Madera County police continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident and will release additional information once it becomes available.
